Shake 'Em Buns

With fast-food, the emphasis is almost always with speed and efficiency. Although this is one of the main criteria for Shake 'Em Buns, they make sure that quality doesn't suffer as a result. With a strict policy on the combination and proportions of their food this burger joint is not your average take-away diner. It's fast-food, but not as we know it.

Food With Personality
After spending over ten years in America and getting a taste for what they can offer, the restaurant owner Tim Lau is committed to bringing that authentic American-style burger to the streets of Hong Kong. However, authentic American-style doesn’t necessarily mean the meat, the grilling or in fact the buns.

One step into the restaurant will immerse patrons in a fresh, relaxing American eatery. From the interior deco to the menu, and even some of the signage around the premises, you will find what makes Shake ‘Em Buns authentic is its personality and that home-made feel.

Shaking Those Buns
The burger patties are made from juicy New Zealand beef, the buns are from a well-known bakery in Central and the combinations speak for themselves. Each burger on the menu is loaded with a host of different ingredients, ranging from the usual suspects – cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and onions – to the rather less used pineapple and green peppers.

Of course, a fast-food meal wouldn't be complete if it wasn't also loaded with side-orders. There are the fantastically named Freedom Fries, bite-sized poppets of fried chicken aptly dubbed Juicy Poppies and let's not forget a nice portion of Striptease – deep fried buffalo cheese sticks.

What's In A Name
They say that first impressions last a lifetime and if that were true then Shake 'Em Buns should last in the memories of many for a rather long time. Deriving the name from American slang, this obviously set the precedence for the naming convention of the menu too. The tongue-in-cheek names ranging from the Hawaiian Surfer Girl, their fish burger Frying Nemo, the vegetarian Sissy Boy to their classic choice Missionary and the rather cheeky South Of The Border all help to create the personality of the restaurant as well as its food.
